A little appreciation for the contemporary dance Curious Movers! Please give them some love 🫶🏽

The work that we do in this 8 week beginner course always feels a bit more private so I don’t post as much class content. These classes focus on practicing dance technique and exploring movement in a way that isn’t always as “performative” or about sharing with the public. However this week, I wanted to show how beautiful and confident everyone looks in week 7 of the course.

This is one of our warm up exercises that encourages people to move through the space, connect to the music and play with both strength and release in the body.

Its incredible to see how much everyone has progressed while having fun! …

📸 Incoming personal post and Friday flashback!

Last weekend I was reunited with my dear friend @richardcauser to celebrate another dear friend’s @clairemarshallprojects milestone birthday.

Richard and I first met at orientation week on our first day of studying dance together at QUT in Brisbane (2002!) We became instant friends and over the years we’ve trained, lived, worked and toured together. So many amazing memories!!

As we had shared some of our favourite memories working on Claire’s dance performances, we decided to remember an old piece of choreography and surprise her with a little flashmob on the night.

After SEVEN YEARS of not seeing each other and over a decade of not dancing together, I think we still got it! 😜

There is nothing quite like the bond you make with people through dance. What a special time. Happy Birthday Claire. We love you 🫶🏽

A little sneak peak at the new South Side venue! All South Melbourne classes have been moved to NIDA in SOUTHBANK throughout April.

Finding available studio hire (with good facilities) is a huge challenge for any independent dance business so I am super grateful to be in this lovely space for the month. #halleluyah
